Thanks to the community’s support, our local Santa Maria Police Department fought off gangs like MS-13 and kept our neighborhoods and children safe. We’re grateful that our local police officers work hard to keep gangs and drugs out of our community.
We also give thanks to the community’s support, Fire Station 5 was fully staffed, extending fire and lifesaving coverage for our homes, businesses, and families and improving critical response times. We’re grateful that our fire fighters are always on the job protecting our lives and community.
Extend funding for our public safety and quality of life services by voting
YES on U!
Over the last 25 years, Sacramento politicians took more than $55,000,000 in our local taxpayer dollars. That’s why Santa Maria voters acted in 2012 to keep our taxpayer money local—extend local funding by voting YES on U!
Q: What is Measure U?
A: Yes on U extends and protects our vital public safety services by extending voter-approved funding for local Santa Maria needs. Yes on U simply protects approximately $18,000,000 annually from Sacramento’s forced takeaways, while maintaining the police, fire, and quality of life services that our residents expect and deserve.
Q: Why is Yes on U needed?
A: Unfortunately, over the last 25 years, Sacramento politicians took over $55,000,000 in our locally-controlled funds, which hurts our police and fire departments—which is why Santa Maria voters acted in 2012 to keep our hard-earned taxpayer dollars LOCAL.
Q: How does Yes on U protect public safety?
A: Doctors say that the brain starts to deteriorate 5-minutes after a person stops breathing. Yes on U protects rapid 911 response times, fully staffs our fire stations, saves lives.
Q: Why vote Yes on U?
A: The Santa Maria Police Department helped combat violent gangs like MS-13, but they still need the tools to keep gangs from coming back. Yes on U gives our local police officers the support they need to keep gangs out of our City, neighborhoods, and parks.
Q: Is Yes on U fiscally accountable?
A: Yes! Yes on U includes strong taxpayer protections, including Independent Citizen’s oversight, and annual audits to ensure that all funds are spent as promised. By law, all Yes on U funds must be spent on local Santa Maria needs, and Sacramento politicians cannot touch one cent.
